Techniques and Processes
During the Migration Period, various materials were combined to create opulent objects for personal adornment. But how were these objects actually constructed? The creation and decoration of each piece used multiple techniques to work the metal, gems, and glass to achieve a desired effect. Characteristic techniques and processes included punching or stamping, gilding, casting, reuse, foils, gem and glass cutting, chip carving, inlay or cloisonné, and buckle construction.
